Grapple-Goo-Guy (working title) is a puzzle-platform game that is currently in development as part of a two-person collaboration intended for release on consoles and PC.
The collaboration originated from our time working together on a previous project, and was developed from a rope-swing concept that I had loosely created a design for prior.
As the project shaped, the antagonist evolved from a simple 'character + rope' design, to 'sentient goo controlling a robotic suit'. The player controls both the body to platform, dash and wall-jump, and also controls the goo to shoot and stick, swing and shoot through objects and enemies.
The overall aesthetic and style for the game's characters and environments I based loosely on Genndy Tartakovsky's work - in particular Dexter's Laboratory.

CONCEPTS & DEVELOPMENT
In early development, I used my bear character from Judo Jumper to help illustrate initial mechanics and concepts - with the core idea being the rope-grapple and how it can interact as part of the player's abilities to swing, stretch, jump, shoot and dash through multiple environments, and in collaboration with level props, enemies, hazards and collectables.
I wanted the core mechanic to be highly purposeful, with many uses that affect - and are affected by - a player's decisions in how they interact with each environment.
With this game I wanted to continue to push my skill-set by refining character design and traditional animation based on everything I’d learned on my game and illustration projects prior.
